The Issue

In January 2024, my brother, Taji Maynor, a hardworking and dedicated Junior at Seventy-First High School in Fayetteville, NC, passed away unexpectedly. He was set to graduate this year, a milestone he had worked tirelessly towards. Just like his classmates, he deserves to be honored for his commitment and determination.

Granting him a graduation diploma posthumously would not only recognize his efforts but also bring immense solace to our grieving family. It would ensure that his dreams and achievements are remembered and valued, even though he cannot be with us to celebrate his success.

The impact of this gesture extends beyond our family; it resonates with our entire school community. It highlights the values of compassion, respect, and acknowledgment of every student's journey, irrespective of life's unforeseen hardships. By supporting this petition, you are helping honor a life dedicated to education and excellence.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, approximately 3.3 million students graduate high school annually in the US. Each diploma is a testament to years of effort and perseverance. As we support my brother's posthumous diploma, we uphold these values and reinforce the importance of every student's educational path.

Please join me in calling upon the administration of Seventy-First High School to award my brother his well-deserved diploma. Help us honor his legacy and show that no student's hard work is forgotten, even when they leave us too soon. Sign this petition and make a difference in our community.
