Award Bharat Ratna to Maestro Ilaiyaraja
The Issue
Ilaiyaraja is a well known popular music composer who has composed music for over 1500 films and over 8500 songs in 16 languages including indian and international music. He has won 5 national awards for his film music in India.
Ilaiyaraja has also composed very popular non-film albums like How to Name It and Nothing But Wind. He has also composed several devotional albums including Thiruvasagam.
He has composed Symphony in 1993 in a record 13 days time and conducted with Royal Philormonic Orchestra. For reasons unknown, the symphony is never released.
In 2024, he has composed Symphony which is titled as Symphony No.1 Valiant in 34 days and release on March 8th with Royal Philormonic Orchestra performing in London. He has planned to perform with the same orchestra across 13 countries in the coming days in this year.
Ilaiyaraja is a first asian to compose a symphony and that too two times with the first symphony scored in 1993 not released. This is a great achievement and proud moment for all Indians.
Given his humble background from growing in a village with no support to music, he is a self taught musician who entered into film music with no prior training and later professionally learnt music through his hard work from his gurus.
From there to achive greater heights till what he is today is something commendable and deserve Bharat Ratna.
