Rep Ted Yoho, a veterinarian and politician, recently showcased his deep-rooted support for sexism and unprofessional behavior, to Rep Ocasio-Cortez, and went on to deny the reported incident to the world thereafter. 

Per AVMA policy, “a veterinarian shall uphold the standards of professionalism, be honest in all professional interactions, and report veterinarians who are deficient in character or competence to the appropriate entities.Complaints about behavior that may violate the Principles should be addressed in an appropriate and timely manner.”

This is a call to the AVMA to officially address and denounce Rep Ted Yoho for his profound lack of professionalism and poor reflection upon the veterinary community, as a veterinarian involved in legislation. To state that our field supports public health is to state that our field supports a healthy, honest, and safe environment for those with whom we communicate and serve on a professional basis.
