Change Helicopter Safety Regulations to include low ground warning

The Issue

On January 26, 2019 a helicopter crashed Sunday in Calabasas, killing nine people including Future NBA Hall of Famer, Oscar winner, father of four, Mentor,  Philanthropist and Humanitarian, Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, as well as 7 others.

The  helicopter was not equipped with a terrain alarm system that could have warned the pilot he was approaching a hillside, according to NTSB safety officials.

The warning system that provides terrain information to the pilot was not on the helicopter that crashed in Calabasas and it currently isn’t  mandated and as a result it may have prevented the crash which ended nine beautiful people, including NBA Legend, Father of 4 girls, Mentor, lives.

The helicopter was descending at more than 2,000 feet per minute at the time of impact. The chopper hit the hillside at an elevation of 1,085 feet, about 20 to 30 feet below an outcropping of the hill. But even if the pilot had been able to fly above the hilltop, he would have faced new hazards ahead.

According to reports, investigators MIGHT recommend that, to avoid future crashes, helicopters be equipped with a terrain awareness and warning system that would have sounded an alarm if the aircraft was in danger of crashing
helicopter was at 2,300 feet when it lost communication with air traffic controllers.

Lets take that MIGHT out  and let’s make this  a mandate. So none of us including Vanessa and those 3 girls, Jerry West, Shaq, and Laker nation, at least knows we are united in making this change.
