Make a change to the Avery Ranch HOA overnight parking policy
Make a change to the Avery Ranch HOA overnight parking policy
The Issue
Hi neighbors! It came to our attention a month or so ago that our HOA has a policy against parking on the street from 10pm to 6am. This was not told to us upon purchase of our home over three years ago nor did we receive any addendums stating this, asking for a vote, etc. We have been parking vehicles on the street, overnight, since we moved in our home in January 2017. Many of you have clearly experienced the same issue, as evidenced by all the notices on the vehicles. We are a family of 7 with 6 drivers. It is literally impossible for us all to park in our own driveway and we have other items causing us to not be able to park in our garage. Two of our kids are away at college part of the time and this has helped us to comply. However, even with just four drivers, it means stress every evening and/or early morning based on who gets home first, who will leave first in the morning, etc. Our schedules are ever changing. Now with Spring Break, social distancing, etc., our college kids will also be home more so we are back to impossible. There are many large homes in these neighborhoods. We are certainly not the only ones this newly enforced rule has negatively effected. Not to mention the fact that we all pay a pretty penny for our homes and it seems like we should be able to park where we need to as long as we don't have broken down cars, up on blocks, etc. We have not been able to get an answer about the reason for this rule other than that it has been in place for quite some time and that it is to keep from blocking the streets during that 10pm-6am timeframe. Is anyone aware of issues great enough during that overnight timeframe to cause this issue to otherwise compliant residents? If there were some relevant concern that could be explained, then we would be less bothered by this. However, just because the rule book says so is not a good enough answer. We are told that we need to get a very large number of signatures to have the rule changed. So, we are giving that a shot. Please sign this petition and share with your neighborhood friends so we can attempt to make this rule more family friendly. Thanks in advance for reading this message, signing our petition and helping the families who financialy support this area have a say!
