This petition requests consideration from all publicly and privately held businesses in the telecommunications and mobile device manufacturing industries to implement a software feature to automatically update the calendar of a mobile device with information regarding elections. Users of mobile devices such as cell phones, tablets, computers, etc. would be allowed to opt-in or subscribe to receive automatic updates regarding local, state, and federal elections. Similar to federally and/or internationally recognized holidays, these automatic calendar updates shall include information regarding the respective election, including general information about the election and contact information of local polling establishments and/or resources for users to seek further information regarding their respective polling establishment. All levels of elections such as local, state, and congressional elections, shall be considered for inclusion. This petition also seeks consideration for telecommunication companies to broadcast messages regarding elections, through geofencing or similar location-based service, should a user opt-in or subscribe to receive such messages. The underlying intent of this petition is to utilize a common method of sending or receiving information, i.e. mobile devices, for users to stay informed regarding matters for which their voice and vote directly affect.
