Plz help Down syndrome Harvey stay closer to the ones he loves x
The Issue
Please help Harvey to stay with the people he loves.
Harvey is 14 and has Downs Syndrome. When Harvey put on weight during lockdown ( social services) became concerned that his grandmother was not able to meet Harvey's needs. They have decided to place Harvey a long way from his caring family in a home with 3 people who have autism.
It will cause a lot of anxiety and stress for Harvey if this happens. He will be sad to be away from his mum, his grandmother and the rest of his loving family and he will be overwhelmed living in close proximity to people whose behaviour, due to their own difficulties, may be overwhelming for him. Harvey needs a calm, stable, loving environment.
Harvey suffers from sleep apnoea which means he wakes up a lot during the night. This is one of the reasons Harvey puts on weight easily. Harvey's doctors are trying to find a way to help Harvey overcome this. If Harvey can learn to overcome his sensory difficulties and use equipment at night to help him breath this will help to keep his weight under control.
Harvey's family are devastated that in less than two weeks Harvey may be taken away from them. They ask you to sign this petition for an urgent review of his case to find a way to support Harvey's family to continue to care for him.Harvey's family understand that (social services) are just trying to do what is best for Harvey and are willing to cooperate fully to get the best outcomes that they can for him. They are just asking that the current plan is reconsidered or delayed while alternative options to care for Harvey are explored.
You can help by signing this petition . ( You can also write to your MP, head of xxsocial services and ask them to delay moving Harvey while other options are explored.
We, the undersigned ask the appeal court urgently review the case of Harvey with a view to him being supported to be able to remain safely in his family's care.
