Give children a voice
The Issue
More often than not.
Court orders are being made forcing parents and authorities to control children and their thoughts, feelings and wishes.
Young children don’t have a voice during court proceedings and are then forced to live in a way that makes them anxious and susceptible to mental health issues. Not just now but later in life.
Children need to be able to express themselves separate from their parents and without the fear that either parent will become upset or angry with their words.
A child should never be forced or physically man handled to up hold a court order. If implementing a court order causes the child more stress emotionally, mentally or physically then, the reasons behind this anguish should be investigated before removal of the child. If a child says “NO” it should mean NO !!!
Children’s services should be trained to think outside the box. For example. Anyone can create a happy, clean, well looked after home and child for the purposes of a visit. Social workers need to look beyond this.
The child’s mental well-being should ALWAYS be the priority.
We need to give children a voice.
we need to listen.
