Help make Cruel Factory Farming practices in Aus Illegal!

Help make Cruel Factory Farming practices in Aus Illegal!
The issue
Stop Factory farming!
Factory Farming, it’s the cruel reality of most of the food produced in Australia today. Factory farming is anything but the popular barnyard images of grazing cows and roaming chickens, it is an empire built around treating animals like machines, where they are engineered to squeeze out every last scrap of milk, meat and eggs. Factory farms are run by big corporations that have no regard for animal life and causing a tremendous amount of waste and pollution.
According to the UN raising animals for food contributes more to climate change than all the world’s planes, trains, and automobiles combined. It’s the punishing truth of food produced in Australia in factory farms where baby animals are mutilated without pain relief – the tails, teeth and genitalia of piglets and the beaks of chicks are brutally clipped, as well as the horns, tails, and testicles of calves – because it is practical, cheap and alarmingly, lawful to do so (Source: Voiceless AU¹).
As human beings we can change the laws legalising factory farms, in 2014 the ACT became the only state to legislate certain farming practices through the Animal Welfare (Factory Farming) Amendment Act. This law prohibits the use of cages and de-beaking of chickens as well as the use of sow stalls for pigs. It is now time for the rest of the country to follow suit sign this petition to show the politicians that factory farming practices are inhumane and as a human race we don’t want to be regarded as the ones who had no respect for animals and our planet.
If you’re really committed to the welfare of animals sign the petition on Animals Australia’s website to make the pledge to Refuse Factory Farmed, Eat fewer animals or go Meat-FREE. Also please watch the video above from Animal Australia’s “Make it possible” campaign which will open your eyes to the possibilities of eradicating factory farms. Choose compassionate, empathetic and kindness.
