Australian Social work degree has mandatory placement allocation for the students according to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)requirements. We acknowledge that students are benefited from the placement which results in students becoming qualified social workers. However, the Non-stop five hundred hours (each and total of one thousand hours) placement has raised concern over the students. Social worker students are facing problems to balance their placement and personal lives. 

 AASW recently changed the policy under the surge of COVID 19. The recent changes in policy indicate that, if the students are impacted due to COVID 19, they are eligible to apply for the reduction of placement hours to four hundred hours each and eight hundred hours in total.

However, We have to understand that Social workers students were impacted by the non-stop five hundred hours placements. The impacts have resulted in depression, anxiety, social isolation and conflict in the family due to time mismanagement. On the other hand, the non-ending placement has created the incapability to manage the fund for grocery, bills and self-care. 

Please help us by signing this petition so that the 100 hours can be reduced in each placement because recent changes in AASW policy indicates that change is Inevitable.
