As you may have heard, state policymakers are currently considering legislation to protect your right to rent your home as a vacation or short-term rental. The City of Austin recently banned short-term rentals in many instances and increased license fees to make it more difficult or impossible for people to make additional income by renting out a room in their home or their own homes during festivals.
Over the next few weeks, the state legislature will consider SB 451, a bill that protects your right to rent your private property as a short-term rental. The legislation prohibits local municipalities from banning short-term rentals.
With the clock ticking, we need to do everything we can to make sure decision makers are hearing from supporters about the benefits of our vacation rentals for Texas. We’d love to get you involved as much as possible to make sure our representatives in the Texas Legislature are aware of how important this issue is to their neighbors and fellow community members.
