To our change.org supporters,
We at the Wilshire Community Coalition would like to express our gratitude to you all for standing with us in protesting the Rising Sun mural at RFK Community Schools. We would also like to update you on the progress of our campaign. Roberto Antonio Martinez, the Local District Superintendent at LAUSD, has responded to our efforts, and we have scheduled a meeting with local district administrators on the 5thof December to discuss the removal of the mural as well as how to move forward from the incident. In the words of Superintendent Martinez, all parties want to “ensure that the concerns of the community are heard and that we move forward expeditiously to provide our students with a respectful and culturally sensitive learning environment”. Again, thank you so much for your support, as this change would not have been possible without it. It is heartening to see the amount of people who care about respecting the victims of past genocides, and we hope that you continue to support us as we continue this campaign.
Best Regards,
The WCC
