The problem about IXL is that it's corrupt. I am a parent of of an LAUSD student who is in 10th grade and everyday my child spends countless hours on her IXL for math and english. For each IXL lesson you have to get to 100% and by doing that you have to get a bunch of answers right and if you get an answer wrong it drops you 5-10 points. So if you didn't understand the lesson IXL is just going to make it more frustrating. I read some reviews about IXL and it a lot of people said makes kids less engaged in the lesson than and in some cases makes them hate learning. If you don't take my word for this, than take Emily who said, "It is very negative and my child is losing interest in math. They said it was very annoying how whenever you get a question wrong it sends you back about 10 points, which makes them lose confidence in their math skills and it doesn't even help them understand the math their trying to actually learn. I think schools should stop using this. Not even to mention the fact they have a point system that is the core of how they lose confidence in themselves!" and Scott who said, "I have been helping my poor kids with IXL, it is very time consuming and causes an excess of stress. It lowers the grade if you get answers wrong which makes it worse for kids who barely understand. It has made my son get sleepless and long nights and he barely has any energy for school in the morning. It hurts me how tired and unmotivated he looks, I do not recommend this at all, even if it is good for education." and all the many other parents have spoken their minds about this.
