The iconic Ettamogah pub at Aussie World has undergone a transformation from an outstanding watering hole and Sunshine Coast landmark to a laughing stock.

Just as ridiculous as the newly installed 'Gold Coast' sign thats unreadable, the traditional pub we all know and loved growing up has changed for the worse and is unrecognisable as anything more than a dated stained-glass and poorly designed eye sore.

There was no public vote or imput into to new design or any feedback opportunities/petitions before all the changes were approved. The first bit of bad feedback from the community and myself was the poor architectural and tragic interior design. The exterior has lost it's recognisable look, and now looks like a dated building right for bankruptcy. The second and of course icing on the cake was the name change to 'Banana Bender pub', not only is it ridiculous in it's name but it is also a term derived to insult Queenslanders.

For example, the term 'banana bender' derives from the southern states of Australia that Queenslanders spend their time putting bends in bananas. Quite frankly, I think it's a right ridicule of a hard-working state. We deserve better than that name, and we demand to have it changed and allow a public vote on an overhaul of the entire redesign and rebranding.

I need the public and communities support on this to have action taken. I understand some may not have an issue with the new pub which is fine. However, I was born and raised on the Sunshine Coast as with alot of the community and I am very disheartened to see the iconic Ettamogah pub be torn down and rebuilt into such a state.
