Augusta Sr. High School (USD 402) needs to take more effective Covid-19 precautions

Like many students that attend Augusta High, I am deeply concerned about how our school will be handling Covid-19. In light of the recent positive case of a student who was participating in a summer activity at the school, it is even more terrifying. Personally, I wish that school could start up again like normal, so I can participate in my activities, and communicate with my teachers, and friends again. However, we need to accept the fact that we cannot have school even close to normal without more positive cases and potential deaths. As of me making this petition, school is scheduled to start in TWENTY-SEVEN days, and someone in my grade has tested positive, AND exposed many more of my classmates to a deadly virus? I, along with more of my peers, do not feel safe going back to school in August, and believe that USD 402 should take Gov. Kelly’s recommendation on when school should start. Masks and hand sanitizer is unfortunately not going to stop the spread the way we wish it could. If school starts as scheduled, an outbreak at the high school is inevitable. Please sign this petition to help protect students, teachers, and everyone they come in contact with. This isn’t a political issue, this is a public health issue. Remember, stay safe, wear a mask, and socially distance when possible! Help keep our schools safe!
