Release Wayne 'Akbar' Pray and commute his Life sentence to time served.

Release Wayne 'Akbar' Pray and commute his Life sentence to time served.
The Issue
Effective September, 23rd 2020, of this year Mr. Pray will have been incarcerated for a non-violent drug offense for over twenty five years. In a country of supposed second chances Mr. Pray certainly deserves an opportunity to rejoin society after such a prolonged sentence. Moreover, Mr. Pray has shown more than simply post conviction rehabilitation. Though his institutional record has been exemplary, his true worth can been judged by the tremendous amount of good he has done both inside of prisons and outside in reaching out to urban at risk kids.
To that end Mr. Pray has founded and chairs a non-profit organization ( APFFC) the Akbar Pray Foundation For Change that sends speakers to inner city schools and programs to mentor and or speak to children in these often high crime and disenfranchised areas. Inside the prisons over the course of his incarceration he has started a broad range of programs addressing similar concerns for the inmate population. For additional information along these lines, visit Mr. Pray's foundation at apffc and his online newsletter at the same site.
In closing Mr. Pray is now sixty five years of age. His health though not poor is far from robust. To that end Mr. Pray suffers with hypertension, prostrate problems, glaucoma and is in need of double hip replacement surgery. At some point relative to punishment, when is it enough ? The undersigned to this petition believe that the punishment served to date by Mr. Pray has been enough and we seek your support in recommending to the President of the United States that his sentence be commuted to time served.
