ATTN NOPD/Law Enforcement: Hold Benjamin Beale aka Kelley Kirkpatrick without bail.
The Issue
The potential release of Benjamin Beale back into the New Orleans community threatens violence, lives and peace of mind.
Currently being held on a $1.4m bond, Beale, also known as Kelley Kirkpatrick, could be released if and when he posts bail thanks to his parent's enormous assets, threatening public safety--especially for women.
An even greater risk of violence is posed for those who have (a) acted to bring Beale to justice, and/or (b) acted to protect his previous victims, and/or (c) spoken out against this individual's violent and abusive behavior, as many have done on social media. Beale has demonstrated psychopathic behaviors in the past and has threatened a lot individuals who are experiencing anxiety at the prospect of his release. His potential release leaves those who have spoken and acted in good faith against him, vulnerable as potential targets of violence.
UPDATE:
Now that Beale has been charged with 2nd degree murder, it's been reported in the media that his bail is likely to increase. However, Beale comes from a wealthy family and has access to capital. Nola.com reported that he purchased the home on Pauline St. in 2020 for $127,500, where Julia Dardar's body was found, dismembered. Furthermore, his case has been picked up by national news outlets, increasing exposure and therefore increasing Beale's likelihood of making contact with someone of a like mind who is able and willing to help him make bail.
Gwen's Law, passed in 2014, allows judges to hold accused domestic violence felons without bond. The law requires a contradictory hearing be held prior to any bail being set, in which the judge considers the danger posed to society and individuals by the suspect's release, as well as the suspect's flight risk and access to capital.
We demand Beale aka Kirkpatrick be held on zero bond, without bail.
This is for our protection.
Sincerely,
The greater New Orleans community and their allies.
