This petition is very important!

Honoring our Nation's Capital, our heritage, our ancestors, and all my relatives and Tribes is of utmost importance. As a citizen of this great nation, I believe it is necessary to pay homage to the history that has made us who we are today.

Washington D.C., the capital of the United States, holds significant historical value. It was founded in 1790 as a result of the Residence Act and has since been home to some of the most important events in American history. From presidential inaugurations to civil rights marches, Washington D.C. has been at the forefront of change.

Furthermore, Washington D.C. is home to countless monuments and memorials that honor those who have fought for our country's freedom. The Lincoln Memorial stands tall as a reminder of President Abraham Lincoln's contributions towards ending slavery in America while also serving as a symbol for unity and equality.

It is also important to recognize and honor the indigenous peoples who have inhabited this land long before it became known as Washington D.C. According to data from The National Congress of American Indians (NCAI), there are currently 575 federally recognized tribes in America with over 5 million Native Americans living within their communities. Also, the 220 federally recognized tribes in Canada.

Therefore, I urge all citizens to join me in honoring our Nation's Capital by preserving its historical significance through education and commemoration efforts while also acknowledging its indigenous roots.
