Petition updateAmazon to Reuse BoxesCalling All Amazon Customers

As residents of Marin County and Amazon customers, it's time for us to ask Amazon to pick up and reuse its packing materials.

We’ve garnered support from over 10,000 Marin residents, virtually all city councils, the Board of Supervisors, and businesses for an Amazon Pick up Program in Marin County.

Plus, we've compiled data on the environmental and economic benefits of such a program locally, nationally, and globally.

Our strategy will be to simultaneously deliver our message to the public and to CEO Jeff Bezos by running a letter as a full-page public service ad in the largest local paper, the San Francisco Chronicle.

Key to this strategy is the fact that the Bay Area is an important market for Amazon and one that Amazon uses regularly for testing new Amazon products and services.

Conservation International has acted as our informal advisor during this effort.

To execute this strategy, we will need to create and fund a public service ad at a cost of $6,000, after a discount from The Chronicle.

Sustainable Marin has offered to accept donations to fund the delivery of a letter to Jeff Bezos directly and publicly through various media.

DONATE

An Amazon Pick up Program will significantly reduce waste, potentially reduce waste collection fees through increased efficiency, forestall industrial and landfill pollution, and protect the scenic beauty of Marin County.

Should Amazon fail to respond to our request, any extra funds raised will be used to move the Amazon Initiative to the California state legislature.

Your help will make all the difference.
