The Corte Madera Council has voted to support the Amazon to Reuse Boxes Initiative at the request of the residents of Corte Madera.

Eli Beckman, Mayor of Corte Madera, has actively supported the Amazon Initiative since its inception. Last fall Beckman was tasked by the council with making contact with the Amazon Store in Corte Madera about a packaging reuse program.

At the same time, Dr. Larry Bedard, Chairman of the Board of Marin Health, approached the Amazon Store in Corte Madera about being the first designated drop off spot for Amazon packing materials.

The Corte Madera Council has posted a letter to Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, saying that the Town of Corte Madera is committed to the reduction of waste and that reuse of cardboard is key to this goal.

Virtually all Marin cities support the Amazon Initiative - including Mill Valley, San Anselmo, Ross, San Rafael, Sausalito, Larkspur, Belvedere, Fairfax, Corte Madera, and Novato - plus the Muir Beach District.

The Marin Board of Supervisors, Corte Madera, Mill Valley, San Rafael, and Novato have posted letters to Jeff Bezos asking for an Amazon Pick up Program. Sausalito has sent a letter to the Amazon Board of Directors asking the same. All await an answer.

Meanwhile, signatures on the Amazon to Reuse Boxes Petition are nearing the targeted goal of 10,000. Once this goal is reached, a request from the Residents of Marin will go to Jeff Bezos paired with a detailed and compelling case for action.

Because this is a local campaign, every signature makes a difference. Please be kind enough to forward the petition to others in Marin County. http://chng.it/cTrbLd4GbZ
