Resignation or Removal of Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms

In recent events there have been serious tension among a diverse group of people throughout the United States which has been spreading internationally. The world is watching. Recently, two Atlanta Officers were fired after an officer involved shooting. An incident that was extremely awful in nature with everything going on in today’s world. 

Millions all over watched the events unfold either through social media or other various media outlets. These two officers responded to a call for service. An investigation was conducted and determined the individual was under the influence. When attempted to arrest the individual resisted. Not only did the man resist the two officers by pulling away and taking them to the ground. He also struck these officers while disarming them too.

As unfortunate as the shooting was, an investigation was underway through the Georgia Bureau Investigation. However, prior to the conclusion of the investigation (still ongoing as this is being drafted) the DA Paul Howard along with the Mayor, Keisha Lance Bottoms, public condemned the officers. The Mayor even called for the firing of the Officer. The implication made by the Mayor was there is no Due Process if you’re an Officer conducting yourself as trained. She publicly condemned an Officer prior to the completion of the investigation. She condemned the Officer when a man on probation fought with him to avoid an arrest and firing a taser at him. 

This Mayor has shown she has a bias and doesn’t not have a clear mind of judgement. Her position isn’t as a Law Enforcement Officer. She clearly has lost sight of what it means to be a leader not only standing by its citizens, but leading the Officers who should be direct reflection of that City’s Government. This is why she should be removed without question. The world knows Atalanta is hurting. The current Mayor is only hurting its citizens even more.
