We, the Computer Science students at the University of Georgia, feel that the University is not doing enough to provide the academic resources that are needed for a successful education at the University. One of the biggest examples of this is the lack of faculty in the department for its size (23 faculty for a department of around 900 students). For the past few semesters, students, even graduating seniors, have felt the pressure of getting the classes they need to graduate and being unable to, causing them to stay a semester or more than they should. The department doesn't have enough funding or resources to keep up with the demand in classes and the exponential growth of the program. What we are asking for is resources from the Dean of Franklin College, transparency about the situation from the Computer Science department and Franklin College, and accountability for actions by administrators and staff in both the department and college that would help improve the situation in the department. Students want to know that there is something being done about this situation so that it doesn't keep happening in the future.
