Many people in Columbiana county and in the Ohio Valley are without proper high speed internet. After a long conversation with AT&T and the FCC, It will be 3 to 5 years before we get fiber optic internet in the area. They even stated that it probably will be longer than 5 years before it is expanded this far. By this time, most of the current technology will be obsolete. This happens a lot as we are in a rural area that does not get much attention anymore since the closure of the Steel Mills. 

The internet they offer in the area is barely fast enough to check email and facebook. This was even stated by the different representatives I spoke to at AT&T. We are an area that is in need of this technology as there is limited options for internet providers in the area. AT&T is the only one that does offer Fiber Optic. The closest place that has it in Ohio is Alliance in Stark County. 

This is an area that needs high speed fiber optic internet. Many of us work from home and attend school from home. It will also bring a much needed update to an area that has had next to no updates in technology in the last few decades. We do not have the internet we need. We can't work, attend class, and even do basic everyday functions that require internet. Help us get this to everyone in our county and the surrounding area that need this service. Not only would it help the residences in the area, but business could expand and more businesses will be willing to come in to the area. It will also help expand and provide children in the area with remote learning when needed and other educational resources that are available to others with better and faster internet.
