Add more Current MCAT Test Sites and Dates
The Issue
The MCAT exam, as many know, is a mandated exam for those interested in attending most US Medical Schools. Additionally, it is also a great source of profit for the AAMC and other test-prep businesses that charge students to take the exam, prepare for the exam, and every other inbetween that includes a dollar sign.
AAMC decided they would change the exam Spring 2015 to the new "MCAT2015", a longer exam that includes new subjects not previously tested. Thus January 2015 is the last scheduled exam date for the current exam.
Thousands of students have been preparing for the current MCAT Exam, many have paid thousands of dollars for prep classes such as Princeton Review and Examkrackers in order to do well on this exam.
The number of seats available did not meet the number of students interested in taking the exam. AAMC did so to benefit their interests without considering the THOUSANDS of students who need to take the exam. They stated a limited number of additional seats would be added after receiving a great number of requests, VERY limited number were added November 11,2014.
They failed to provide a secured online portal for registration. Many who were logged on and even got to the payment screen, put in their credit card information were booted out and were unable to register. The number of seats added did not meet the demand and now thousands are simply out of luck. THIS IS ABOUT MORE THAN MONEY, it is about OUR education, OUR future, our passion to become physicians that is being hindered. It is about denying students a right to their education. It is unfair and we demand CHANGE, now.
