Asking Twitter to Add a HashFlag to #مهسا_امینی & #MahsaAmini and stop hijacked hashtags

The Issue

In the past 7 days, people worldwide joined the people of Iran to protest and share the voice of the Iranian people. This movement began after the so-called morality police killed Mahsa Amini because she didn't wear a proper hijab according to their standards.

The #مهسا_امینی Hashtag is used in over 100 million tweets right now (And became THE most tweeted causal Hashtag in Twitter history) meanwhile Internet in Iran is shut down, and people are being killed on the streets over protesting their human rights.

Twitter hasn't yet added a Hashflag to help people find the correct hashtag over falsified hashtags government agencies use.

What is a hashflag, you might ask? There were occasions when Twitter added an emoji to the hashtags to distinguish tweets and maximize exposure. Hashflags are mainly a business thing, but Twitter added Hashflags for social & political occasions like #IVoted, #Nowruz, #Ramadan & #BlackLivesMatter.

Why this matters to us? because government cyber-agents are trying to hijack hashtags and stop the trending ones by flooding and creating different hashtags with typos, different hidden ASCI characters & other tricks. When real people want to tweet about this matter, Twitter will suggest wrong hashtags and people will use them because they are hard to distinguish.

We ask Twitter, which is the most politically influential platform on the internet, to join us and add a HashFlag to correct hashtags, #مهسا_امینی & #MahsaAmini, to provide transparency on their platform and stand by people like when they stood by the #BlackLivesMatter.
