My sister and I were on the TTC and witnessed a drunk young guy lock his sights on a young woman sitting adjacent to us. He then moved to sit opposite her while licking his lips and leering at her obviously and threateningly. We got up and stood between them and then asked her to move up the carriage with us. He followed and stood next to us, making sure he made eye contact with all of us and continuing licking his lips. We asked her to get off before her stop so he didn't know where she was going and again he followed us but stood in the door of the train with his hands down his pants, pulling them and obviously playing with himself. There was no one on the platform to inform. The internet does not work between stations to use the SafeTTC app. 

She told us she had been followed two nights before with a different man. On looking up statistics about attacks on the TTC I was not only alarmed at the number but appalled that little if nothing (apart from the aforementioned app) appears to have been done to make a safer zone for women.

We asking the TTC to provide female only 'SAFE ZONE' compartments (I hesitate to write this here as I don't feel it should be a seperate comment but it should include trans women. My hope is that women would welcome any woman that feels threatened or safer in the compartment). It can and has been done successfully in other countries and could save lives and/or stop lives being ruined.
