Asking for the county of Polk to compensate proper individuals for land agreements

The Issue

My entire family lived in Livingston, TX. My first memory is the house my dad put here, right next to my grandparents. I have been with this property since the day I was born even if I didn't live on it every single year for the last 30 years ! There isn't a year of my life where I didn't show up and touch down on this dirt. My grandma , my grandpa, all of my cousins. This place holds every good memory of my childhood and my entire family for me. It's the last place I can remember ALL of us together it's our home my brother is dead my grandpa is gone too now and this last year I lost my aunt who held on to this place the best she could considering what our family had. Lots of people over the years with Renee being the only Kerr left on the land and paying for it, saw she couldn't watch the land 24/7 all alone, so they sabotaged her, harassed her and people were even driving up and dumping trash And appliances on the property. I had to clean up years worth of trash, and abandoned trailers, appliances ECT... Demanded by the Polk county environmental officer Jeff Sexton, to be done within a 60 day period. No family members or relatives would help physically, financially,by that time my aunt had already passed on so its been like this for years but I am the only one who ever filed for the deed and title to the land to be in my name, the property is in my name and has been.

The county I live in has already received funds from Union Pacific Railroad for the purchase of nearby property for the construction of a new road easement, that the county actually signed an agreement on with only 1 out of 21 living heirs to this intestate property. This heir is still being contacted by the county judge about pushing through with her agreement and I have already contacted the judge and the county commissioner for this particular problem. It's not right to be pushed off or relocated on my own land and to not be seen or heard when you have a grievance about such a matter as your homestead for your kids and family. It's not right for one family member who don't live on the land, and does not hold a legal document what so ever to prove she had the right to receive compensation for this land to actually be the one who receives any compensation for this road being built right through my yard and land

This petition seeks justice for families like mine who are being unjustly displaced from their homes due to lack of proper legal procedures. In 2019 alone, over 1 million American households faced eviction - an issue that could be mitigated by requiring a lawful agreement or chain of title before seizing property (source: Eviction Lab at Princeton University).

We demand that counties in Texas, starting with Polk County where this issue hits home for me personally, must conduct thorough chain-of-title investigations before taking any action on properties. This will ensure that homeowners' rights are protected against unlawful seizures.

It's time we stand up against such practices that threaten our homes and our families' legacy. Sign this petition today if you believe in fair treatment for all homeowners regardless of their financial status or ability to hire legal representation.
