The Library of Congress offers online access to Federal Writers Project slavery narratives from every southern state except Louisiana. Although the Louisiana FWP slavery narratives were published separately from other states' narratives, they are available and could easily be added.

The people of Louisiana are done an injustice by this oversight. The history of our state is not fully represented in the Library of Congress. The formerly enslaved people are done a disservice as well, as their lives remain even more obscured than the lives of enslaved people of other states. And Louisiana's descendants of enslaved people have more difficulty finding narratives by their ancestors.
