Many people died for our United States flag, and it breaks my heart that this government official has used our flag as a political tool. On May 31st, 2024, Stephen J. Balich flew the United States flag upside down at a government building in Homer Township to express his own political opinions. This act enraged many veterans and alienated half the population in our community. His personal political views should never have been imposed upon us using a symbol that represents all Americans.

Stephen J. Balich has his own property where he can display his political views without involving the entire community or disrespecting those who have served under our flag. Our community is outraged by this misuse of authority and demands that he resign from his position as Homer Township Supervisor immediately.
