On August 19th, 2011, Marcellus Andrews had anti-gay slurs spat at him before being beaten into a coma, later resulting in death. The police in Waterloo, Iowa, have decided not to pursue hate crime charges (despite this having all the makings of one) and have not made any arrests or issued any warrants, despite have suspects identified. With the recent number of Gay teen suicides and anti-homosexual rhetoric on the rise, it is important now more than ever that we stand against injustice. No matter what your views on homosexuality are, one should never get beaten to death for any reason. Michele Bachmann, you are running for the Republican Nomination. Instead of idly sitting by while your hometown allows murderers to freely walk the streets, you can help put a stop to this by denouncing the inaction of the Waterloo Police publicly. Though you have made inflammatory statements towards the LGBT community in the past, here is your chance to attempt to turn around and at least condemn murderers, if nothing else. Please, take a stand against violence.
