The Issue

As a parent of a passionate dancer and an employee at a dance studio, I have witnessed firsthand the dedication, discipline, and intense physical effort that our dancers put into their craft every single day. These athletes train tirelessly, often balancing academics, jobs, and other responsibilities, while maintaining a rigorous schedule that demands peak physical and mental performance. Given this dedication, it's disheartening to see that lululemon's Sweat Collective program, which offers discounts and support to fitness leaders and influencers, does not currently recognize dancers as the athletes they truly are.

Dance requires a combination of strength, endurance, flexibility, and grace. It's a physically demanding activity that challenges the body in ways similar to those recognized sports and fitness practices, if not more. Studies have shown that many sports-related injuries occur in dancers, highlighting their need for quality activewear to support injury prevention and enhanced performance. Dancers are constantly pushing their bodies to the limit, and having access to high-quality athletic apparel is essential for their training and overall well-being.

Lululemon, a brand synonymous with quality and functionality, has the perfect opportunity to support this vibrant and hardworking community by including dancers in the Sweat Collective program. This inclusion would not only acknowledge the athleticism and dedication that dancers display but also foster a new relationship between the brand and a significant community of active individuals. By offering dancers the support they need, lululemon has the chance to expand its reach within the fitness community and demonstrate its commitment to all athletes, regardless of discipline.

I urge lululemon to expand its criteria for the Sweat Collective program to include dancers as recognized members. By doing so, you are not merely broadening the scope of your program but also validating the hard work and athletic excellence displayed by dancers every day. Let's stand together to advocate for these incredible athletes and help them get the recognition they deserve. Please join me in signing this petition to encourage lululemon to make this important change.
