The Issue

I've been actively involved in the feral cat community for years and am currently awaiting approval for my organization, Wander No Longer-Feral Cat Network. This cause is dear to my heart because I've witnessed firsthand how critical it is to provide a safe haven for these community cats. Las Vegas is experiencing a significant increase in its feral cat population, and without proper space and resources, these cats are left vulnerable and at risk.

Currently, private landowners in Las Vegas are refusing to allow feeders to care for these cats on their property, leaving the cats with diminishing sources of food and shelter. This is why it's imperative that the city of Las Vegas approves a designated piece of land where buildings can be erected to relocate and care for unwanted feral cats. This land would serve as a sanctuary and a place of protection and care for these animals.

The implementation of a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program and ongoing management are proven strategies that can effectively control the feral cat population. According to multiple studies, TNR is the most humane and efficient way to reduce feral cat numbers and prevent the overpopulation crisis from worsening.

The creation of such a sanctuary would rely heavily on volunteers who are passionate about doing this work. As an organizer within the feral cat community, I can confidently say that we have an army of dedicated volunteers ready to manage this space, ensuring the well-being of these cats. However, the financial strain of purchasing land and building this sanctuary is beyond our current means.

That is why we are reaching out to the city of Las Vegas to assist in making this vision a reality. By providing the land, the city would be investing in a sustainable, long-term solution to manage and care for these cats, and in turn, helping to maintain the ecological balance within our community.

We call on the compassionate citizens of Las Vegas, animal lovers, and advocates alike to support this cause. Let's show our city leaders that we care deeply about the welfare of our wildlife and the humane treatment of community cats. Please sign this petition to urge the city of Las Vegas to approve land for a feral cat sanctuary. Your signature can make a big difference.
