Ask ircc to grant residency to Amirat Fayemi and family
The Issue
Amirat Fayemi is a courageous 16-year-old who is battling acute myeloid leukemia for the second time. In 2022, she overcame cancer, but unfortunately, it has returned or have some serious complications, forcing her to face an unimaginable health challenge once again. Amirat is not just a statistic or a case file; she is a beloved member of our community and a close friend whose journey has deeply touched my heart.
Currently, Amirat, her mother, Rita, and her brother, Abdul Samat Fayemi, live in Canada and they are under imminent removal. Without Permanent Resident status, Amirat is unable to access the essential medical care and support she desperately needs as she undergoes complex care or further chemotherapy treatments. Her mother, a trained Personal Support Worker, is also unable to work legally in her field and contribute to the community by caring for others in need.
Granting permanent residency to the Fayemi family on humanitarian and compassionate grounds would not only be a compassionate gesture but a life-saving decision. Amirat's access to adequate medical care is paramount, and allowing Rita to work as a PSW would benefit our community tremendously.
In Canada, we pride ourselves on our commitment to humanitarian values and caring for those in need. Amirat's situation is a test of these values. Her fighting spirit is an inspiration, but she needs our support to continue her battle. The family's current precarious status creates an unnecessary burden during an already critical time.
We urge the Honourable Minister of Immigration and Citizenship and the IRCC to review their case with compassion and urgency. By granting the Fayemi family permanent residency, we offer Amirat the chance for a healthier future, her mother the opportunity to provide for her family and support others, and Abdul the stable environment needed for his growth and development.
Please stand with us in this urgent appeal to bring stability and hope to the Fayemi family. Sign this petition to make a difference in their lives today.
