Over the past 50 years, the international community made steady progress to curb hunger. Together, we've reduced the number of people who go to bed hungry each night by at least 50 percent.
But those incredible gains are now being threatened by the financial pressures of today's global economic crisis. We must not let millions of children and families fall back into the cycle of hunger and poverty.
You can help take a stand for families in need. Ask Congress support a federal budget that funds a comprehensive effort to fight hunger and poverty around the world.
Sign the PetitionIn DepthHunger is one of the most devastating, widespread epidemics in the world.
The truth is, we only need one smart, comprehensive plan — one that will galvanize the will of the international community, mobilize the resources and lay out concrete steps to end hunger once and for all.
A broad-based coalition of aid, advocacy and religious organizations have developed a Roadmap to guide the Obama administration and Congress in the fight to end world hunger. The plan calls on the U.S. to lead the global community by developing and implementing a comprehensive plan to end global hunger.
Please urge our leaders to follow the roadmap and root out hunger today.

As the global economic crisis intensifies, the world's most vulnerable people are finding it more difficult to feed themselves and their families. Chronic malnutrition traps people in a cycle of hunger and poverty. It also erases up to $30 billion per year in producitivity from the global economy.
You can help. Ask Congress to and invest in a healthy and productive future for everyone. Tell them to support a federal budget that funds a comprehensive effort to fight hunger and poverty around the world.
Add your name below:WHEREAS President Obama recently released a budget outline that provides $51.7 billion for international affairs, the section of the budget that funds foreign assistance and many global poverty reduction programs;
WHEREAS the White House has stated its commitment to increase foreign assistance funding in order to continue successful programs and embark on new initiatives that will foster global food security;
RECOGNIZING that one billion people around go to bed hungry at night and another two billion fail to receive adequate nutrition even though the world produces enough food to feed every man, woman and child;
WE URGE you to affirm U.S. leadership in the fight against global hunger in order to meet the UN Millennium Development Goal to cut hunger in half by 2015;
WE URGE you to support the Administration’s budget proposal and adequately fund comprehensive strategy to reduce hunger and poverty around the world;
WE URGE you to revive the Congressional Select Committee on Hunger to examine issues relevant to the development, implementation and monitoring of a comprehensive strategy on global hunger
