Ask all political parties to support the 2.5 million people now living with cancer

The Issue

The number of people living with cancer in the UK will hit 2.5 million this year. That’s an increase of almost half a million people over the last five years. Ahead of the General Election, we need urgent political action to avoid a cancer care crisis.

Everyday, almost 1,000 people hear the devastating news that they have cancer, and this surge in numbers is putting huge pressure on the NHS. Our research shows that tens of thousands of UK cancer patients are diagnosed too late, shown a lack of compassion, or denied a ‘good’ death. Our health and social care systems are being too slow to react to the growing number of people getting and surviving cancer.

Jasbinder, who was diagnosed with breast cancer, says:

“I have a strong history of cancer in my family – all the women on my mother’s side died as a consequence of getting cancer. That’s why I’m so passionate about making sure cancer care is an election priority for all political parties.”

The UK is already failing to support everyone with cancer. We need urgent political action by the next Government to change this. Everyone with cancer deserves the best possible care and this year’s General Election is our best chance to make it happen.

Join our campaign to make this an election priority and avoid a cancer care crisis.

Together we can choose a future where no one has to face cancer alone.
