Rejecting the idea of renaming ‘Jim Corbett National Park’ to ‘RamGanga National Park’
Eminent Ecologist & Naturalist Jim Corbett’s immense contribution in protecting India's wildlife from extermination. His work of literature depicting the enchantment of Indian forests and rural cultures.
Renaming one gem of Uttarakhand’s Jim Corbett National Park to Ramganga National Park is a huge disservice to Corbett’s invaluable efforts and amounts to civilised vandalism. Renaming the place signifies his efforts and contributions erased.
The government’s affinity with changing names of historical and heritage places entails huge administrative costs and resources which can be better deployed in priority areas. The renaming and rewriting of history here is a sign of deliberately wiping out the part played by him in hunting down the man-eaters of Kumaon and Garhwal Region . FYI this has very less to do with slave mentality.
