Removal of the Confederate Statue in downtown Hot Springs, Arkansas

Removal of the Confederate Statue in downtown Hot Springs, Arkansas

The Issue

The statue celebrates soldiers of the Confederacy. Also, two African-American men were lynched at this same place. Their names were Will Norman and Gilbert Haris. This statue is an inconsiderate symbol of racism and slavery in the South. Confederate statues glorify white supremacy and commemorate racists soldiers. Racism doesn't belong in the town of Hot Springs, nor should it in any other city.
