Grant clemency to Franklin Lee Barnes Jr. (Frank Barnes)

The Issue

"If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change."

                                             -Dr. Wayne Dyer-

I am asking the world to change the way it looks at Franklin Lee Barnes Jr. (Frank Barnes). In April of 1999 at the age of eighteen Frank allowed an individual that had committed robbery, which involved the unfortunate loss of life, to enter his vehicle making him an accessory to the crime. This particular action resulted in him being sentenced to the Arkansas Department of Corrections for a total of ninety years. Frank has served twenty-three years of his sentence. He has applied for clemency three times and been denied. He is forty-two years of age and since his incarceration has developed skills that will assist him in being a productive citizen within the community. He has been a barber, baker and a canine care giver in the Paws in Prison program. As a barber Frank was trusted to work in the maximum security areas to groom the segregated inmates. As a baker he developed skills to feed and nourish himself and others. The Paws in Prison program allowed him to nurture, train and often rehabilitate over 35 canines. Caring for other people and canines has instilled maturity, taught responsibility, and accountability within himself. God has led me on this journey to assist Frank, I ask all of you to join us in petition. "While reflecting upon my early years, I can say that I am not the same person." -Franklin Lee Barnes Jr.- Thank you and May God bless you.
