Online exams for GGSIPU final semester
The Issue
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi released a notification on 9th September, 2020 on its website regarding the conduct of pen and paper based offline exams for final semester students. Quite a similar notification was released 3 months earlier in June which was taken down within hours as it was not in the interest of students due to the ongoing pandemic and the situation is still not normal.
As per the order of Hon'ble Supreme Court, both online and offline mode of exams are accepted. It is already very late for the exams to be conducted and if offline exams are conducted, it would further delay the process of evaluation and results declaration which is certainly not in interest of students looking for/ already having job opportunities. Many students already having job offers are serving extended probation periods while others aren't eligible to apply for Govt. job exams like IBPS which require the candidates to have completed their graduation. If any further delay is there, it would cost students a lot. Therefore the University is requested to conduct online exams like other state universities such as DTU, IGDTU, NSUT and declare the results as early as possible or atleast assure the students to declare the exam results by the end of October. If the University doesn't have appropriate infrastructure to conduct online exams, it can outsource it to an online assessments agency.
