Artists tickets for All Performers at Glastonbury Festival

The Issue

As musicians who have played at Glastonbury Festival, we can attest to the incredible dedication, talent, and passion which goes into organising what is widely regarded as the best music and performing arts festival on the planet.

However, there is a big unknown about Glastonbury Festival which the music press and industry at large seem to scared to share! That is, we, alongside many other independent/unsigned bands, struggle to get in to the festival to perform due to many of the smaller stages not being given artist tickets by Glastonbury Festival HQ. This results in bands such as our own often having to buy tickets or having to work on site in order to perform. Up to 20 stages do not get artist tickets to bring bands on to site. That's hundreds, maybe more, musicians essentially having to pay to play each year! In 2024 this seems very wrong.

One might think the chance of even being offered a gig at Glastonbury shouldn't be sniffed at, but actually no, this is costing many independent artists, often working class bands a massive amount of money. Money these artists could otherwise be spending on recording a new EP, promotion, rehearsing for shows, replacing old equipment etc

Be it cleaning the toilets, working as car park stewards or serving hot dogs, unsigned bands have done it all to get in to play Glastonbury over the years, whilst bands on bigger stages bring in huge entourages of music industry bods, their celebrities pals and friends for free! This seems particularly ironic for a festival which prides itself on its apparent socialist, left leaning, working class philosophy.

Therefore, we implore you to aid in propelling this change by endorsing our call for Glastonbury Festival to allocate artist tickets for all artists performing at the festival.  This petition is about ensuring fair treatment for all musicians at all stages of their careers, and promoting the vibrant grassroots music scene at large which forms the backbone of such a globally recognized festival. Glastonbury Festival should be leading by example, but its not. Let's try and change that.
