Freedom for YURI - the abused Bear !!
Das Problem
This Petition is is part of the actions to pressure for the liberation of YURI from the Hotel "Bayka" in to the rehabilitation center!
He is prisonied in Kosiv region which is in the Western Ukraine. Yura the Bear is held for 17 years in small cage and used as a tourist attraction. Poor housing conditions coupled with the lack of medical examination/treatment witch led to a rapid physical and psychological deterioration in the last two years.
Abused for money !
The visitors are encouraged to buy Coca-Cola and treat it to the bear. As a result Yura became addicted to Coca-Cola, constantly asking for it. The visitors of the hotel simply can approach the cage and give whatever they want to the Baer.
The animal itself is fed with restaurant leftovers, which is harmful and has damaged Yuri's health.

As a result he became almost blind and developed diabetes. He has joint problems and according to the vet if not rescued very soon he will die within a year or two.
This animal exploitation has taken place over all these years and has brought the owner a lot of money. Ukrainian animal rights activists have repeatedly asked to send the bear to a rehabilitation center. You have also written requests for review, which, however, did not lead to the goal by bribed officials and without sufficient support in the country itself.
Since the new government, however, reforms have come into force. Citizens therefore have the right to demand that those responsible meet their obligations to integrate into the European Union, in particular to respect the Lisbon Treaty, Article 13, on animal welfare as a European value.
This is our change to be able to enforce the liberation of the bear "YURI" together with the Ukrainian animal welfare groups.
There is already a place for "YURI"!
The bear sanctuary "Domazhyr" is located in western Ukraine and offers abused bears a safe and natural home. With the support of the FOUR PAWS Foundation, bears are rescued from cruel captivity, such as bait stations for hunting dogs, traveling zoos, circuses, hotels and restaurants.
Here the rescued bears are provided with natural conditions to ensure the restoration of the original equilibrium. In addition, the square is not only a new home for suffering bears, but also a strong education and awareness center. Regular tours and activities on animals and environmental protection take place here.

With YOU we can do it !!
This petition will be published in adapted languages across Europe. The suffering of the bear "YURI" will be reflected in X thousand signatures and statements.
Our animal rights activists in Ukraine therefore have a "tool" that goes far beyond their own national borders. The fact that the bear "YURI" is no longer a "national" problem will ensure activity among those responsible !!
Thank you for the support !!
