My 6th grade son is studying religion in social studies. His class was going in depth about the Islamic faith more than any other religion. Forcing him to learn the five pillars of Islam. Learning about the messages from Allah to Muhammad, and much more, for weeks. Nothing was sent home about the Holy Bible, or the Ten Commandments, or the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit, or Buddhism, or many other religions. I have been forced to pick him up at school and drop him off after that class. The teacher says there will be Islamic lessons for a little longer. Remind you, that my son is only twelve. He makes good grades, but the school is making him take zeros for the assignments missed. It is up to the parents and school to make sure the youth is focused on learning. It is so easy to persuade children at this age. Please help to keep the education in school and the religion out. If not, at least an option for the students and families that these studies offend at such a young age. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
