Stop high-rise intensification at Bloor and Lansdowne: 1319 Bloor Street West
The Issue
The proposed development for two 30+ storey towers is a major concern for area residents:
- The proposed development does not fit with surrounding neighbourhoods
- The proposed intensification will increase congestion in an already gridlocked area
- The proposed intensification will contribute to a darkening of city streets and neighbourhoods and will affect street level comfort through its impact on wind patterns
- This new development trend in the city eliminates the feeling of a neighbourhood/residential community that is distinct from the core. The development of our neighbourhoods has made our city livable and has helped to support the community character that makes Toronto world class!
Let's keep our character by keeping high-rise intensification efforts isolated to the core. Let's challenge the City Planners and Developers to build better, beautiful, and livable communities. Packing people into high-density towers is not the only way to balance the need for growth and bottom lines.
