Ards and North Down Borough Council this week have made the decision to to change the black/grey bin collection from fortnightly to a monthly collection. To me this is not good enough as a rate payer I expect to have this service available to me on a fortnightly bases as previously agreed. I don't think it's fair on the citizens of this Borough to pay for the mistakes of the council with over spends etc. I feel that this decision made by the council this week is disgraceful, in the middle of a pandemic when more people are working from home, which results in more waste being generated they stop a vitial service. As a mummy to a baby who uses disposable nappies I think this is disgraceful that I will have a month's worth of dirty nappies in my bin sitting under my kitchen window. Not to mention the citizens of the Borough who use other personal products that need disposed off via this particular bin, again these will be left sitting for a whole month. Then we move onto the staff who work within this vital service who are potentially going to have hours cut, again they are going to suffer for the mistakes of the Council. So lets get this petition shared far and wide across our Borough to get this stopped and to have our normal bin collection back.
