Stop Aralon from Building 120ft Tower at 955 Sansome St
Stop Aralon from Building 120ft Tower at 955 Sansome St
Why this petition matters
Aralon Properties, a real estate developer in San Francisco, is planning to build a 120ft building at 955 Sansome Street at the base of Telegraph Hill and in the Northeast Waterfront Historic District. This building would replace the parking garage currently at 955 Sansome Street.
The proposed building would be three times the height of its surrounding buildings and is therefore not in keeping with the character of the Northeast Waterfront Historic District.
The building would significantly impact the light, air and privacy of many properties along Prescott, Vallejo, Bartol and Montgomery streets. It may impact 100 or more properties, many of which are 100 years old and have historic designations from the city. In addition, further study is required to determine whether it poses a risk to the foundation of nearby properties on the hill.
Our only chance to defeat this tone deaf proposal is to band together as a neighborhood. If you, like us, would like to protect the historic character of Telegraph Hill and the Northeast Waterfront Historic District, please sign this petition! To be clear, we are pro-housing. Our hope is to convince Aralon Properties to build a significantly shorter building of around 40 feet measured from Sansome Street. A 40ft building would still have space for a similar number of units, and they would be significantly cheaper. In addition, a shorter building would better respect the character of the Northeast Waterfront Historic District while still allowing Aralon to turn a profit.
Thank you for your consideration.
