APPROX 14+ DOGS HAVE BEEN KILLED UNDER PATTY BAKER HUMANE SOCIETY! CHANGE IT BACK!!!
The Issue
My mother, Lori Keller, founded the Humane Society of Naples in 1960, driven by a profound love for animals and community welfare. My father, Walter L. Keller, contributed his architectural expertise to design the first shelter, while my brother, Mike Keller, and I, Nancy Keller, participated as children by moving kittens and other animals to their new home. Our family, alongside supportive friends and neighbors, fostered countless animals until the official opening of the shelter in 1962. This remarkable journey was purely the result of communal effort, love, and dedication, with no financial investment or involvement by Patty Baker.
Despite the genuine and grassroots origins of the Humane Society of Naples, we now face an unjust situation where Patty Baker's name appears inappropriately associated with its early beginnings. This misrepresentation diminishes the heartfelt contributions my family made, overshadowing the initial legacy my mother established. Though Patty Baker has undoubtedly played a role in more recent developments, attributing her name to the foundational history is both inaccurate and disrespectful to those who laid the groundwork.
The historical narrative of an organization, particularly one as impactful as this non-profit, no-kill animal shelter, should remain true and unaltered by external influences or false claims. It is critical that we celebrate the true pioneers like my family who dedicated their lives to this noble cause long before any external investments were made. Therefore, in the name of historical accuracy and respect, I urge all stakeholders and the community of Naples to insist on removing Patty Baker's name from all historical accounts related to the founding of the Humane Society of Naples prior to the time she became involved.
Join me in correcting this historical misrepresentation. Let us ensure that credit is rightfully awarded to those who genuinely deserve it. Sign this petition to preserve the true legacy of the Humane Society of Naples and honor the authentic contributions of Lori Keller and her family.
Patty baker and her new Executive Director Becca Morris have started KILLING DOGS, SENDING THEM TO GEORGIA AND NOT ACCEPTING THEM BACK SO THEY WOULD BE KILLED UP THERE TO GET THE BLOOD OFF THIER HANDS. ALL ANIMALS IN THE BYLAWS ARE ALWAYS ALLOWED TO COME BACK WITH OPEN ARMS
