Large corporations have been one of the sole contributors of pollution in the Philippines, if not the top. Greenpeace Philippines' Country Director Lea Guerrero has asserted that “not just industrialized nations, but also fossil fuel corporations, are responsible for their significant share in fueling the climate crisis and its unacceptable impacts on Filipino communities. The fossil fuel industry is composed of the world’s largest and richest companies that rake in profits by the trillions of dollars, while the poorest and most vulnerable communities reel from calamities caused by increasingly stronger typhoons [such as of last year's Typhoon Ulysses]." In light of the Philippine CSR Act or SB 6137, business corporations must be obliged to fulfill their social obligation to a sustainable environment for the good of the Filipino public and the coming generations. The people in position or in power must fulfill their duties, and now prioritize and take into light our country's ecological status. The senate and the president must #ApprovePHCSRActNow!
