Support Local Business & Approve Septic Disposal Site Town of Eastport

The Issue

APPEAL date: Friday November 29th, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Clarenville Inn.

We would like to thank you for your signatures and overwhelming support in this matter thus far.

At this time we would like to inform everyone who has been negatively affected/impacted  by this decision personally or professionally, that they may also write a letter of support. Any letters of support will be presented at our appeal and would greatly be appreciated especially since many voices were not given a fair chance to be heard.

A letter we wrote the Town with our arguments and rebuttals that outline why we feel the decision by the Town was unjust and unfair will be posted publicly so residents can see both sides and come to their own fair conclusion.

Letters of support can be dropped off at our office in Sandringham as well as emailed to: office@grcontracting.ca

Thank you so much for your support. We greatly appreciate it.

This petition is asking for your signature if you support the proposed development of a Service NL approved Septic Disposal Site on the Eastport Peninsula.

Over 3/4 of residents both local and seasonal, including local business and tourist operations rely on septic disposal services here on the Eastport Peninsula.

While septic disposal is not a well received topic of discussion, it is in fact a very real and essential service that residents require.

In August of 2022, the septic disposal site in Eastport was shut down abruptly by Service NL rendering our business obsolete. We have since proposed an engineered, environmentally sound alternative to solve the issue and keep our business open to serve the residents and businesses of the Peninsula only to be denied by the Town of Eastport.

We feel the decision to refuse our business development application was irresponsible and one that affects not only our company but the tax paying residents and local businesses alike whose opinions and voices were not taken into fair consideration. This decision comes with financial implications for all involved including the Town of Eastport itself.

This raises costs for everyone involved while also choosing not to support a local business who pays taxes and employs local residents. This development must be and will be approved by Service NL and requires all specifications to be met before issuing a permit. It is a timely process and one that deserves due diligence which it did not receive from the Town of Eastport.

If you support this development application and utilize this type of service please sign our petition.

We are dedicated to our clients and customers and take great pride in the services we offer. We are working hard to find a solution and we appreciate your support.
