Approve Planning Application for Tyrone Husky Rescue

The Issue

Please help. Tyrone Husky Rescue run by Hayley Doak had to move her Husky rescue to a new location due to reasons that were outside control.

After finding a suitable location, an old stables with two paddocks, Hayley spoke with the planning department at the local council to establish if she needed planning permission to alter the buildings and the purpose of the land form horse use to her dog rescue.

Understanding she did not need planning permission, Hayley got to work on the rented land and spent £22,000 establishing fencing that is 6ft above ground, 2ft below ground and further secured with concrete and slab work.

As a lover of all animals, she did this to ensure the rescue dogs she takes in were not able to leave the site and no animals were able to enter the site, meaning the risks were removed and everyone would be safe.

However Mid Ulster District Council has rejected a planning application for Tyrone Husky Rescue to operate at the new location.

The decision was made without a site visit which would have demonstrated just how secure the site is.

There appears to be a feeling in the council that Hayley’s work is not essential but we know it is. Hayley and one part time volunteer have worked for seven years in Husky rescue and in that time she has saved hundreds of dogs from situations of neglect, abuse, abandonment and surrneder. About 30% of the dogs were facing being put to sleep by owners who did not know how to care for Huskies, and another 60% would have probably faced the same end if Hayley had not taken them in.

There is no risk to people or livestock from the site, there is no concern about the buildings or noise that cannot be examined and improved upon.

Hayley has put enormous effort into making this new location a fit place for the dogs to live and thrive after being mistreated, starved, abused, abandoned or surrendered by previous owners.

When others gave up on these dogs, or they were to be put to sleep, Hayley looked after them and showed the dogs how to live in society,  she teaches people how to live well with these very special dogs.

Please help give Hayley a chance. She is the voice for the voiceless, don’t let her be silenced by people who simply don’t yet understand how special she is.

Hayley just needs a chance to show all the work she has done, how effective it is and how a community can come together to support eachother and help animals who have no voice of their own.

Good politicians, sensible politicians, decent politicians will listen first and make measured decisions but they have to be given the chance to get all the facts.

Please support this petition, please tell your story about how Hayey has helped you and your dog, please do the right thing and share this petition.

Thank you
