Approve Permanent Basketball Goals for Residential HOA Members of The Home Place

The Issue

Our family has been blessed with a simple joy that has brought us closer together - a basketball hoop. My four-year-old son plays on this hoop every day, and it's not just about the game. It's about the laughter, the exercise, and the precious family bonding time that comes with it. We look forward to our seven-month-old joining in these games in future years.

However, we are facing an obstacle. The current by-law managed by All Points Community Management does not approve permanent basketball goals for residential HOA members of The Home Place. Instead, we are left with 'roll away goals' which lack both stability and aesthetic appeal.

Permanent basketball goals can enhance curb appeal while promoting outdoor activities among children - an increasingly important issue given today's digital age where children spend an average of 7 hours per day on screens (American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry). Moreover, sports like basketball help improve physical health and social skills among kids (Centers for Disease Control).

Our options via All Points Community Management are to:

  1. Remove the goal (which we do not see as a viable option).
  2. Move the goal to the back yard which would obstruct ours and our neighbors' views/require significant resources.
  3. Pay $50 every 2 week to All Points which would be $1300/year.
  4. Have the by-laws changed by way of a petition so that others can enjoy their space and the outdoors.

We urge All Points Community Management to amend this by-law allowing permanent basketball goals for residential HOA members of The Home Place in Lexington, KY. Let us foster a community where children can play outside freely while enhancing our neighborhood aesthetics.

Please sign this petition to support our cause and bring joy back into our homes through these hoops!
